Sound Off11:30-09 How about a ping pong table? Response by Jeff Peters, CEO I am in favor of it. Where would you put it? We currently do not have space available.11-30-09 Can low flow shower heads be installed? Response by Jeff Peters, CEO We are starting to look at several different styles of low flow shower heads. The sample shower heads are located in the men's shower area. Try them out and let me know which one you prefer! 11-30-09 Can the gym be re-lamped to T-8 lights? By switching lighting fixtures this could provide a 60% savings in electrical costs. Response by Jeff Peters, CEO I have investigated the re-lamping the gym to T-8 lamps. My investigation showed that while we would save some money by switching to T-8 lamps but not by 60%. The cost of switching the light fixtures would be much greater. The payback for switching out lamp fixtures was about 7 years. The YMCA, being a not-for-profit organization, can not take advantage of tax credits that are available to other organizations. 11-20-09 Could we get a recycling program started at the YMCA? Many people throw away plastic water bottles everyday. It would be "green" to have a recycling program. Response by Jeff Peters, CEO Earlier this year I had the Northeast Indiana Regional Waste District look into starting a recycling program for all of the recyclable materials of our operation (cans, cardboard, plastic bottles, etc.). So far, based on our volume of recyclable materials, none of their vendors have been interested to start a program. Recycling and becoming "green" is very important. It is the right thing to do. If we were to start a program it would mean we would be operating it - accepting the bottles, cans, cardboard, etc. and then taking it to the recycling sites. This could be a messy and time consuming operation. I would be more interested in starting, providing the space for the recycling containers and maintaining a recycling program if we had a volunteer to assist us - anyone interested? 5-30-09 Why are there no recycling bins? Doesn't seem to fit at the YMCA's goals and philosophy. Response by Jeff Peters, CEO We have a meeting with the Northeast Indiana Regional Waste District on June 8th about establishing a recycling program.4-27-09 Request: Self-defense class! Signed: K. Barnthouse Response by Jeff Peters, CEO We will be starting several new programs this year with a new Karate Instructor. One of the programs will be self-defense. Please consult our program guide and web site for the starting times and dates of the class. 4-27-09 During Ski Season - Possible monthly rentals Cross Country Skiing at Pokagon State Park as a YMCA program event. They used to have ski rentals. Signed: Tom Fisher Response by Jeff Peters, CEO Pokagon State Park still rents cross country skis. I will contact Pokagon State Park and see what type of a program we can develop. Please consult our program guide and web site for further information. 4-22-09 Please fix the TVs upstairs - NO NBC & 2 on weather radar & 2 on ESPN. Unsigned Response by Jeff Peters, CEO We'll look at this issue and get it corrected. 12-28-08 Flags are torn and need to be removed. Very disrespectful to our war hero's. Either remove or to replace. Unsigned Response by Jeff Peters, CEO The Flags will be replaced in the early spring. 12-19-08 It's good to see the Invest in Youth (Membership Assistance Program). We now have a convenient and reliable way to promote fitness and help others in the local area. Signed Bill Smith Response by Jeff Peters, CEO Thanks Bill! 12-15-08 Turned away from the 5:45 am spinning class along with others due to full class. Are move bikes going to be purchased? Signed Amy Krebs Response by Jeff Peters, CEO We are looking at obtaining more Spinning Bikes. They cost $6.50 to $1,000 each. Any Donations? 11-5-08 The swim coach needs to be aware that the girls are leaving quite a mess in the locker room. Debris on the floor, hair, shampoo, empty bottles in the showers. Plus questionable driving in the parking lot. Need to know about yielding as they leave. Unsigned Response by Jeff Peters, CEO I have spoken to the AHS swim coach and he has discussed this matter with the girls on his team. We have also instructed our cleaning service to "touch up" the women's locker room every day about 7:30 am. I hope this helps. Please let me know if this doesn't. I also discussed the driving issue with the coach, too. Hopefully, we should see improvement on this issue. 10-28-08 What a great evening for the community...my children had a great time as well! I am glad you continue offering this annual event for the families and children in this community. Please thank your staff for their time and those who volunteered for this event. Happy Halloween! Signed Marla Toigo 10-3-08 Tyler Hartman is a fantastic trainer. He is always there to help me. Always kind and polite. I appreciate all he does for me. Signed Carol Anstett 9-24-08We (Kim & I) would like to compliment Y staff for the recent "clean-up". A week of maintenance is a small & satisfying price to pay for a bright & shiny building. Signed Bill Smith
